RIDING VACATIONS
The Kedron Valley Stables offer a wide variety of riding packages beginning in early May and continuing through the first weekend in November. As we are the New England representative for "Equitour" and listed in their Equitour Worldwide Riding Holidays brochure, we tend to fill our rides rapidly. To assure your reservation for the ride of your choice, please book with us direct (800-225-6301), as soon as possible. These packages include The Green Mountain Inn-to-Inn Ride, Weekend Riding Vacation, and Trail Riding Clinic. WEEKEND RIDING VACATIONS 3 Days / 2 Nights Days of riding (approx. 5 1/2 hours riding on Day 2, and 3 hours riding on Day 3). This package ride is a good introduction to the type of trail riding we do here in the hills of Vermont while providing you with a unique weekend at the Kedron Valley Inn. Includes two nights lodging, two scrumptious gourmet dinners, two hearty country breakfasts and two picnic lunches. (Or, for the economy- minded we also offer accommodations at the Kendall Homestead which provides two nights lodging and two picnic lunches.) This special consists of one and a half days riding through the mountains, along beaver ponds, through streams, birch groves and by several country estates. ~ Minimum 3 - Maximum 6 Riders ~ TRAIL RIDING CLINIC 6 Days 5 Nights 4 full days of riding (approx. 7 hours riding & lessons on Days 2, 3, 4 & 5) The Clinic is geared to various riding abilities in English equitation. A variety of extremely talented instructors will assist you to become a more comfortable rider (for yourself and the horse). Our instructors teach a balanced seat, which will enables clinic participants to improve their skill in dressage, elementary jumping and trail riding. You will receive hands-on experience in stable management, groundwork and some jumping, combined with trail riding over our many miles of trails. You'll witness Farrier "hot shoeing", plus lungeing and harnessing demonstrations. Morning sessions provide instruction in stable management (feeds and feeding, stall care and proper handling of horses, grooming, tacking, bathing and medicating). Also included are riding lessons with no more than three to a class, followed by rides out on the trail daily. Afternoon sessions provide time for additional lessons in our indoor arena, or instruction in trail riding skills to help you remain comfortable during many long hours in the saddle. Whether your interest is only to improve as a pleasure rider or to prepare for another "distance" ride holiday, this clinic will help you achieve your goals. This special consists of one and a half days riding through the mountains, along beaver ponds, through streams, birch groves and by several country estates.~ Minimum 3 - Maximum 6 ~ GREENMOUNTAIN INN-TO-INN RIDE: FOR THE STRONG INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED RIDERS 6 Days / 5 Nights / 4 Full days of riding (approx. 5 - 6 hours riding on Days 2, 3, 4 & 5) The distance between inns can vary somewhat based on weather conditions. Generally between 20-25 miles over sometimes rough terrain are covered daily. Sunday: Arrive at the Kedron Valley Inn during the afternoon and meet your host before dinner. The Kedron is an 1828 New England inn with queen canopy beds, heirloom quilts, award-winning cuisine and a private swimming lake with two white-sand beaches. Voted "Inn of the Year" by inn-goers. A/C dining patio with extensive flower gardens. Monday: Riders are introduced to their horses. Then ride through the beautiful countryside to Echo Lake Inn, located in Vermont's beautiful lakes region, tucked away in the tiny hamlet of Tyson. It is an authentic historical inn, having hosted many dignitaries such as Presidents Coolidge and McKinley, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone and Henry Ford. For summer visitors, the Inn offers tennis, pool and boating on Echo Lake. Tuesday: explore the woods past centuries-old stone fences following single-tract trails through the woods of Cavendish to the Crown Point road built by a British general in 1759 to the 18th century Inn at Weathersfield where the innkeepers are musicians and gourmet cooks as well. Wednesday: Riding through an army corps of engineers flood plain across the Black River to the climb up the side of Mt. Ascutney to Windsor for the night at the National Historic Register mansion, Juniper Hill Inn, one of "The Best Places to Kiss in New England". Thursday: Tranquil farmlands, wooded hillside trails, country dirt roads, stone fences and pre-colonial ruins can be seen along the ride to the Kedron Valley Inn in the small village of South Woodstock. Friday: Departure after breakfast and last photographs of new-found friends. ~ Minimum 3 - Maximum 6 Riders ~ KENDALL HOMESTEAD ~ overlooking the village of South Woodstock and only a short walk from our stables. It offers three bedrooms, each with one double bed, one single bed, private bath (tub and shower) and private entrance. The Homestead also offers a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, and living-room with television for our guests to share. These rooms are set up for your arrival with linen and towels. When required, maid service is provided every third day. You provide your own food or eat out. Picnic trail lunch provided as specified in our ride package descriptions.
